Winter Session

3 Exciting New Studies

Starting January 29th, we will gather together for worship and Bible study for our 12 week Winter/Spring sessions. We will offer a variety of studies during this time.  Jen Wilkinโ€™s study on Revelation will span all 12 weeks.  There will also be 2 other concurrent studies (a topical book study and a โ€œdig deepโ€ study) that will last 6 weeks  (Winter Session).  For the remaining 6 weeks (Spring Session), we will offer 2 more similar studies. You may choose the one you want to take for the Winter Session and decide later for the Spring Session.

Revelation by Jen Wilkin

(Workbook. Weekly Videos. Class discussion)

Author Jen Wilkin

Perhaps no other book of the Bible feels as inaccessible and as intimidating to us as the very last one. The book of Revelation overflows with images and ideas that confound our modern ears. But if all Scripture is God-breathed and profitable, we should assume Revelation is as accessible and helpful as any other book of the Bible. Why donโ€™t we see it that way?

Two thousand years ago, Johnโ€™s Revelation was circulated and read aloud among seven churches in Asia Minor. Those who heard the letter understood it and drew encouragement from its message. The same can be true for you today. Using verse-by-verse Bible study, Jen Wilkin helps you discover how the last book of the Bibleโ€”the culmination of God’s great storyโ€”speaks both a steadying word of assurance and a strong call to endure to the church in every age.

Forgiving What You Can’t Forget by Lysa Terkeurst

(Topical Book Study. No videos. Class discussion from study guide worksheets designed from book and Scripture.)

Author
Lysa TerKeurst

Forgiveness is a process and it is hard. It is not made possible by our determination but is made possible by our cooperation with what God has already done for us. We can’t change what we have experienced, but we can choose how the experiences change us. How do I forgive like that???

Read this book and study verses from Godโ€™s Word and we will see God talks about forgiveness in most of the Bible. We will discuss the book and the homework drawn from Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation. Great topics such as vengeance, forgiving even if we canโ€™t reconcile relationships, praying for those who hurt us, forgiving with grace or truth, and finding peace even with painful memories will be touched upon by the group.

1 Peter

(The Bible is your Workbook. No video. Class discussion using various Bible Study methods.)

What does it look like to live as Godโ€™s ambassadors in a hostile world? How do we present the living hope of the gospel to the world in the midst of trials and tribulations? What blessings await those who remain faithful and what is our response to those who would twist the truth for their own purposes?

These are just some of the questions addressed by Peter in his epistles. Through our study of his words we will look at all these issues and more, including bearing witness to Jesus through suffering, rejoicing in the security of our salvation, hoping in Jesus’ return, and maturing in our faith in order to challenge corrupt teachings. Using the Bible as our text we will dig deep into Peterโ€™s message through independent reading, in-class discussion and various Bible study methods. We will seek to apply the uncovered truths to our daily lives and to encourage one another to walk boldly.

SPRING SESSION STUDIES

These studies will be offered the final six weeks.

What Women Fear: Walking in Faith that Transforms
by Angie Smith

(Topical Book Study. No videos. Class discussion.)

Author
Angie Smith

From best-selling author, Angie Smith, comes the story of a life-long struggle. A struggle we all know, a struggle we keep hidden, a struggle most of us never conquer: FEAR. In What Women Fear, Angie Smith talks openly about significant struggles she has experienced with fear. But instead of suggesting that those who love the Lord would never fear, Angie blends her experiences with those of men and women throughout Scripture to help us start dealing more effectively with these true, human emotions.

2 Peter

(The Bible is your Workbook. No video. Class discussion using various Bible Study methods.)

This study continues the study of I Peter that began in the Winter session. (See description above.) The Bible is the textbook and you will dig deep into 2 Peterโ€™s message through independent reading, in-class discussion and various Bible study methods. The class will seek to apply the uncovered truths to our daily lives and to encourage one another to walk boldly.
